In early 1850, a group of natives raided Cash's residence at South Pine but were repelled and the slab hut had a series of auger holes bored through the slabs allowing Cash to put the muzzle of a gun through. Cash had 1400 acres between the South Pine and North Pine Rivers and was obviously a confrontationist.
The Cash cottage remained on the site of the Baptist Church land till the late 1970,s and was bulldozed by a former owner of the lands, opposite the Albany Creek Tavern .
The last known aboriginal of the Pine Rivers Tribe, was Kitty Delaney (Delaneys Creek), who died in 1922 at Kobble Creek. Little has been done to preserve the history and relics of our local aborigines.
It was Tom Petrie who befriended the local TURRBALlanguage area and built a rapport and respect with the indigenous tribes
Peter Campbell was one of the nominees for Senator Neville Bonner, who became the first aboriginal to be elected to the Australian Parliament.
Peter, through his historical research of the local area ,is available as a guest speaker to local community groups and assists local schools in field trips around the school grounds .
