I have many memories of Matt to share, but this one is my favourite:

The Albany Creek office was decorated for Christmas. A few of us were staying back after work to do this and Sue and I were working out the finer details and organising wine and food etc. for the workers when Mr Campbell has heard muttering “It’s all Bah-humbug.” We were astounded but not deterred.

Santa’s elves worked hard, had great fun and perhaps got a little tipsy.

I decided I could not let Mr Campbell’s comment go unrewarded, so I laboriously cut out a cardboard stencil of Bah-humbug to be Santa snowed across the glass panels of his office.

Peter drove all the ladies home that night – thank goodness - I was going to make sure that I was at the office early to catch Mr Campbell’s expression when he saw what I had done.

What a total let down. He said his usual good morning when I arrived, but not a word about decorations.

I waited and waited, then finally I asked him what he thought about the job we’d done on the office, to which he replied ‘Hmm’. I asked if he had noticed the special message on his office he smiled slowly and said yes. And that was it!!!

I cherish the memory of that smile and also the fact that every person who entered his office during that Christmas period was shown the ‘art work’ on the glass panels of his office.

God – I loved that man!
